Meet the Horses

We appreciate all of our wonderful old horses at Angel Acres. They all have exceptional training and temperament. They are so willing to still give service which helps them and ultimately helps our children. Under that willingness, they do not realize the unspoken healing they give. How many children they make smile, all the bodies they help repair, the fragile egos made confident and all the hearts they touch. For this we take our hats off to all our wonderful 4 legged friends-our horses.

JR

JR is a mustang. Age 23. Donated by our friends Kevin and Lora. He was previously a Coconino Forestry Service Horse. He was also used for law enforcement for search and rescue by the Flagstaff Police.

He had a hock problem and can’t do that rough riding anymore, however, the gentle riding we do gives him good exercise and really helps the children. He is also the horse in our Logo.

Thank you JR!

Boss

“Boss” is a registered Quarter horse. Age 20. Owned and donated yearly by Marty.

He has been used most of his years in western pleasure. Went on many trail rides. Is in terrific health and has brought much joy and healing to all the children in the last seven years.

Way to go Boss!

Rip

“Rip” is a registered quarter horse. Age 28. Owned by Angel Acres. He is a retired roping horse.

He had slight arthritis in the back legs and his owner was moving to cold Idaho. So, we are very lucky to have him. Since his use with us, he is in better health than ever. Loves to work and the kids love him.

Thank you Rip!

Cochise

“Cochise” is a registered quarter horse. Age 28. Owned by Angel Acres. His previous owner of 12 years used him for western pleasure riding.

Prior to that he was a dude ranch horse used for many trail rides. He can’t ride the mountains anymore, but is great for our program on the flatland. Loves to get out and ride. Our children love riding this handsome paint.
